Saturday 15th November saw several members of St Edmund's and St James congregations awarded with the Bishop's Certificate in Children's Ministry at a celebratory service held at Manchester Cathedral.
Some of those involved in working with the young people in our church family completed a course earlier this year, run by Manchester Diocese. It covered topics such as child development, team working, pastoral awareness, children and community, the Bible & prayer and programme planning. All involved came away with ideas, inspiration, confidence, insight and a real feeling that Children's Ministry is a vital part of our life as Christians.
At the service on Saturday, Bishop Mark (Bishop of Middleton) made the point that our children teach us as much about the Kingdom of God as we can teach them.. often more!
Those awarded with certificates were Hyacinth Lightbourne, Caroline Trott, Martin Tonks, Eular Carr, Addy Lazz-Onyenobi and Kiki Nwabeke.
Well done everyone!
