On Saturday, we hosted our very first EcoFest! Stalls were set up and run by many different community organisations, cooperatives and ethical businesses.
We had some inspiring and informative talks about Climate Breakdown and social justice, the importance of fairtrade, solastalgia and lament and Eco Church.
Activities included writing poems, creating artwork and riding bikes and there was plenty of opportunity for conversation and connections to be made.
We estimate that over 100 people came throughout the day – some from our churches, some from other local churches and many from the local community – all with a shared interest in seeing how we can live well within our world.
Overall, the event appeared to be a great starting point upon which to build further collaboration and action and gave us much to think about from both a faith and community perspective.
Comments following the event included:‘I think it worked really well as there were lots of things going on and people were dipping in and out of things’
We are aware that many people gave generously of their time in order to support this event and we are extremely grateful for this.
It is by working together that we can truly begin to effect sustainable action and changes that will help us all live better within our community and world.
